Hand crafted by an award-winning artisan in upstate New York, these traditional “pot-belly” pack baskets are ideal for foraging since they are lightweight and durable. Made of heavy gauge reed, these unique baskets are secured on a sturdy wood base and feature a handle and hand-made leather straps. The small basket is the ideal size for a woman or teenager’s body. Each basket is signed and dated by the artist.
An optional, hand-made leather pouch, perfect for a mushroom knife or a phone, can be purchased separately and fastened to the exterior.
Did you know…The Adirondacks have suffered tremendously from acid rain resulting from coal-fired plants in the Ohio Valley and other parts of the Midwest. Acid rain destroyed the red spruce forest in the upper elevations of the Adirondacks and contaminated over 25% of the lakes in the park making them too acidic to support the surrounding wildlife. In April 2014, the Supreme Court revived the Cross-State Pollution Rule making it now illegal for a state to cause pollution that will harm neighboring states.
