Did you know….The hooded sweatshirt is an American classic originating in New York State in the 1930s. The Knickerbocker Knitting Company was the first to attach a hood to the athletic “sweater” as added protective gear for laborers working in frigid warehouses and for football players to wear on the sidelines to keep them warm during inclement weather. Hoodies transitioned from strictly athletic wear to mainstream fashion when high school athletes gave their sweatshirts to their girlfriends to wear, affirming their relationship. Rocky Balboa immortalized the grey hooded sweatshirt in the 70s as the quintessential invincible athlete attire.
